Jean de Laon's allegorical device on t.p. On t.p. verso is woodcut port. of James VI of Scotland, to whom the work is dedicated. The ports. appear in the oval openings of decorative surrounds. Some of the openings are empty, the subject's name in letterpress being substituted for the missing port.
